Dallas: A Prosperous City with Creative Charm

Dallas is a major city in Texas. Located in North Texas, Dallas is the main core of the largest metropolitan area in the South. Dallas is the cultural hub of Texas. It has much to offer in terms of cuisine, the arts, and special events. Dallas is known for its barbecue, authentic Mexican, and Tex-Mex cuisine. Looking for something to do after you dine? The Arts District in the northern section of Downtown is home to several arts venues and is the largest continuous arts district in the United States. Dallas also hosts an array of events during the year including the State Fair of Texas, which has been held annually at Fair Park since 1886, Taste of Dallas, and the annual Halloween event, The Wake, which features local art and music. Other places of interest include the Perot Museum of Nature and Science, the Dallas Arboretum and Botanical Garden, and the Dallas Museum of Art. The area is home to six major league sports teams including the Dallas Cowboys of the NFL, the Dallas Mavericks of the NBA, the Texas Rangers of the MLB, the Dallas Stars of the NHL, FC Dallas of the MLS, and the Dallas Wings of the WNBA. 

Millhouse is close to the intersection of W. Ledbetter and S. Hampton Road, the location of substantial shopping – tenants there include Fiesta Mart Grocery, Walgreens, Family Dollar and numerous other restaurants and retailers. Schools within a five minute drive include John W. Carpenter Elementary, Bishop Dunne Catholic School (grades 6-12 and recipient of the National Blue Ribbon School award), Daniel Webster Elementary and St. Elizabeth of Hungary Catholic School PK – 8th grade). Directly on the other side of Highway 67 on W. Ledbetter is the Oak West Health Center, providing basic health care services for children. Three miles south on 67 is the Southwest Center Mall, anchored by Macy’s, Sears and Burlington Coat Factory and more than 50 other specialty stores. The Southwest Center Mall was recently purchased; the new owners plan to redevelop the property as destination retail and entertainment with additional office space.
